New blog!

Posted by chelsie rout at 06:58 0 comments

So I don't post much on this blog any more, which is a shame but i felt as if i wasn't enjoying what I was writing anymore and when I don't enjoy doing something I don't tend to continue on with that project . . . .

So I might of set up a new blog, a new project.

I have always been one to admit that I love books. Always have, since I could remember.

Along with loving books, I also have many thoughts, feelings and ideas that I never really go anywhere as I never have a place to share them.

I have a new blog called bookishdream (it takes you to a new tab), where i can share all my thoughts about the books I read. I am also on  (again, new tab)
I have already reviewed Grace Helbigs new book and I have about 7 posts in the drafts folder.

So I have a feeling I am going to enjoy this project a tad more.

hope to see some of you over there!

Bye, Chelsie xox

Inspired by Pinterest #2

Posted by chelsie rout at 04:17 0 comments
Hello again.....
Since my laptop has decided to take a permanent nap and all my future blog posts are on there, I am forced to use the Family computer . . . . bummer.
And I don't want to have to write out the same post again, so I have decided to do another 'Inspired by Pinterest'
Last time it was on Small Bedroom ideas (Link) Now it is on Fashion

Note: I am not normally one for fashion and I am not good at it but I like pretty outfits and day dreaming about how I would look in those outfits, if I could pull them off that is!

This is the main way I dress anyway no matter the season, but these girl do it like 70 times better than I do and its perfect!

Winter fashion is my favourite cause of all the layers and warmth and boots and scarves.... and I need that coat like aspa!

Who doesn't like plaid and jeans?
Nobody that's who!

Summer clothes scare me (Not sure why) but this is my perfect summer outfit.... I may need to get on the treadmill and get a tan ;)

Now I find this gorgeous but as I am so short mid length skirts look odd on me and make me look even shorter. A girl can dream though!

Now this is pretty much what I would wear 100% of the time if it was considered normal.
I just want a skirt like that.
It's stunning!

That's pretty much the end of that

Follow me on Pinterest if you have one!

Let me know what you love to wear!

Until next time!

New Revlon Stock In Australia - first impression

Posted by chelsie rout at 04:10 0 comments
Hey guys,
I am quite fortunate to work in a beauty section in a department store, this pretty much means I am able to test products and sit on wether I want to buy them for quite a while. I also get a lot of feedback from customers (Once you ask what they think they could go on for days).
So when we got the new stock for Revlon (which I had been waiting for) I wanted to test it.
Their new Australian stock consists of;  Shadowlinks, Colourstay skinny eyeliner & Colourstay crayon colour eyeliner.
So while during the day I kept wanting to test them and then finally on my break I had a quick look and my reactions where mixed.
While I was setting up the stand I did notice there weren't many colours that stood out to me like I had hoped.
The colours where either too bland or unusable for everyday use.

As I didn't buy any I managed to find this colour chart online and well to me it shows how bland the colours are.
The only colours I really liked was: Taupe, plum, blush and khaki
Unfortunately I have already got access to all these colours.
Another thing I found disappointing was the quality of the shadows. I found once I tested it, it rubbed off almost immediately. Not something I really wanted from a shadow costing me $9.95 each.
When unpacking them I found if they where knocked slightly they started breaking in the packet, and when I dropped one (whoopies) it shattered completely and it was just disappointing.
(why do they have to be so disappointing)
I cant definably see the appeal of these as they clip together to make a personal palette, but that is the only positive I could find with them (personally)
Yeah these will cost you $9.95 each and personally I would rather fork out the extra cash and go to Nars or M.A.C and buy a quality eye shadow, but that's just me!
On a more positive note the new Skinny eyeliners where amazing!
They come in the four colours above and if you want a skinny eyeliner that stays on forever this would be the one I recommend. Again I didn't buy one because I just didn't need it.
The colour was very intense and it stayed on my hand for the rest of the day and not until I broke out the eye make up remover did it come off.
I was super impressed with this eyeliner.
It is priced at $25.95 (I think) which is on the pricy side for Revlon but I feel like it would be worth it!

Let me know if you agree/disagree & I might just have to have a second look at the stock...

Until next time

Okay the time has come for when my long awaited products from Ulta!

Since I live in Australia aka the worst place to try and get high end makeup for non outlandish prices, a friend and I decided to use a forwarding service to order makeup at American prices. Not only did we get things for American prices we also managed to get our hands on products that aren't available to us in Aus! Win!

We got the package in under a week (I think) from the service to get the package and I have been waiting out to use the fancy smacny camera to get pretty photos!

Without further ado look at my new babies!

First of all is the Stila Dare to Bare palette
US$20.00 AUS$21.45
This was probably the item I was least excited for but from using it a few times I have really come to love it and is one of my favourite items I bought.
The colours are super simple and that is what I need to try and finally learn to use eye shadow.

From left to right: au naturel sepia, native, playful, earthy, double dare, birthday suit & wink
The top row have three matte neutral shades, the second row have more shimmer and metallic shades and the palette ends with a all over shimmer and a bronzer.
I can not wait for me to get some wear out of this!
Next is a pack which I can't find anymore on the site (Bummer) but this was amazing value for money.
Tarte pack (I don't know what else to call this)
US$16.00 AUS$17.16
Holy smokes this is an amazing price.
In the pack you get a lip surgence (normally $24.00) and the lights camera lashes mascara (normally $20.00) and a travel bag.
I love the light shade of pink and the mascara so far is amazing.
Next are the Eco tools fresh and flawless brush set
US$14.99 AUS$16.08
Smaller than I originally thought and I wont use them for their intended purposes but they are soft and I needed a few new brushes!
Okay before anything else can we appreciate the packaging on this Stila Baked duo Blush
US$24.00 AUS$25.74
So far with m stila products they can do no wrong. I am in love with this blush.
The two different shades are perfect on their own and mixed together and look at the packaging.
(I may be in love with rose gold)

Lorac alter ego lipstick in the shade dominatrix
US$16.00 AUS$17.16
This has to be one of the best pigmentation in any of my lipsticks. This rich deep burgundy shade is my favourite thing and ugh I love it so much!
Last but not least......well definably not least, in fact it was my favourite thing I bought.
Tarte Rainforest After Dark Palette
Doesn't it sounds pretty and mysterious. Also the packaging is stunning. Snake, the purple gem and the wooden look. Gosh I can fall for some pretty packaging. (totes not the first reason I wanted it)
US$38.00 AUS$40.00
Also you get a lot for what you pay for;
6 shadows: Bare to Explore, Make a Mauve,  Plum Away With Me, Up to No Gold, Tan-gled Up in You, Don't Turn A-Brown.
Full size Tarte blush in the shade Unleashed
A large bronzer in the shade Park Ave Princess
& a highlighter in the shade Champagne.
That is the end of my Ulta Haul.
When I have been using these for a while I will do some reviews and other things.
Now excuse me while I sit on the Sephora website and wish for everything!
Until next time

Inspired by Pintrest

Posted by chelsie rout at 09:19 0 comments
So just like everyone else on the Internet, I use Pintrest. Shocker, I know right!

But soon I will be moving into a house with a tin bedroom and well I wanted ideas and inspiration.

This is pretty much a list of pretty pictures, who doesn't like pretty pictures?

So for my personal ideal look for pretty much any room is simplistic and clean. That's mainly cause I am in a child's room at the moment and it sucks!

My Bedroom will be about this size and I have a queen bed to fit in there, also a bookcase and a desk/vanity.

I am super obsessed by this style of vanity. Its so pretty!

I won't have a closet like this but a girl can dream

Wall art is a picky thing for me cause it needs to be simple and clean.
(its hard to explain)

These are both really cute ideas.

Again I won't have this but I will continue dreaming!

Okay this is my favourite thing. Even though I wont have a dresser I will have a bedside table and if they have draws I am going to find some adorable wallpaper!

So there you go.
A post with pretty bedroom decor
Follow me on Pintrest or send me yours!

Until next time

Disappointing products #1

Posted by chelsie rout at 17:58 0 comments

I don’t normally like giving products slack but these products just didn’t get along with me at all.

#1. Garnier BB Cream

When this product came out I thought it was the bee’s knees, it was perfect. This is the one for dry skin but as my skin changed I now can’t get it work. It looks so oily with and without powder and there are so many other BB creams that work for me. I have tried both the normal/dry and the combination/oily and dislike them both. The normal/dry one is so oily and it slicks on your face and I can’t stand it. I then tried the combination/oily one and it is orange, I have nothing else to say other than I came out orange.

#2 Rimmel stay Matte Foundation

Let me start out by saying; I do love the idea of this product,  it said “no cake face” & “amazing staying power”. Both are wrong. If you have a dry patch on your face, even if you moisturise, the foundation will flake off during the day and that is not good look. It is also rubs off and doesn’t stay that well. The colour shades are so off, I have Ivory (which I think is the lightest colour) and it is too dark.  It is super hard to blend and if you don’t do a really good job of blending it will end up looking cakey!

#3 Benefit stay flawless 15 hour primer

I love benefit but this primer is so bad. You are supposed to rub it over your skin then rub it in but it is hard to move long your face and it so oily and it has barely any staying power. Also the amount you get for the price is kinda ridiculous. The packaging is super cute though.

#4 Revlon Photoready concealer

This concealer just doesn’t work for my skin, the colour range is really limited and it takes forever to blend it properly, it also has a strange feel to it, like rubber or I am not quite sure.

#5 Lush Toothy Tabs

It’s a odd one to put in but oh well!
Now I kiss the ground lush walks on but I think they missed the mark with this product. If you
haven’t seen these they are small tablets that foam up in your mouth when you crumble them. Great idea and invention, yes unless it tastes like feet. Which the do. I picked the “Sparkle” one up and only read “grapefruit and lemon” went home and tried it, read it again and realised I missed the ingredient “black pepper”.  So I still wanted to try these and make them work. So I bought the “Dirty” one and they only had spearmint. Perfect! No. Same gross taste. I am leaving these behind!

#6 QVS Foundation Brush

Now it isn’t just the QVS brand, it’s the foundation brush.  I have no idea how people use these well. They go all streaky and gross, they don’t give a natural finish.

#7 Any Tresseme Product

I cannot stand this brand, it has to be the worst brand I have intrusted my hair into. I don’t know why but at age 14 I love it, I thought it was the best. Now I see the light finally, it makes my hair worse off, it dries up my hair like crazy and it does nothing useful at all.
And that’s all that I can think off and now I can’t throw those products away and never buy them again.

Do you guys have the same problems from these products?

Until next time

Bellabox: July Edition!

Posted by chelsie rout at 02:35 0 comments

I love getting these boxes every month, it’s so exciting. I never see the money leave my account (mainly cause I don’t pay attention) so it’s like getting presents every month!
This month’s theme was “American Beauty” which got me super duper excited.

The first thing got me slightly confused because it’s from Japan and really didn't fit the theme. But I moved on, it’s a moisturising cream, I don’t moisturise because I am an awful human being but, I have used it for a few days now in between my eyebrows and around my nose where its gets dry and it seems to be helping. Plus makes it feel so smooth.

I only got 3mls but I will have to buy it from Bellabox for $34.95 for 70 grams if I want to continue using it!

Next I got the Innoxa skin + clear, oil free clarifying cleanser. Boy what a mouth full. Again we sell Innoxa in Australia, although I personally have only seen the make up not the skin care range.

Truthfully I don’t need this. I use Dr. Lewinns only and I will never stray, so this is a product for my mother!

Next I got the most exciting thing ever! The balm How ‘bout them apples? Cheek & lip cream. I have wanted one of these for ages and now I have one.

Admittedly I won’t use it  for my cheek because my face doesn’t agree with cream blushes but it is perfect for my lips!
I got the shade ‘Pie’ and there is a teeny tiny shirtless man to look at yum

Next I got a mango lip butter from Designer brands.

Nothing much to say about it other than the super inconvenient tub container. Smells good too!

I got Revlon fake eyelashes called Fantasy lengths.  I don’t wear flash lashes ever so these will be for me to play around with.

Bellabox sends you a sample or two at the end of the box and this time it’s a strange one.

I have never heard of this product in my life, and I am slightly afraid of using it if you can also use it on animals. Is it weird or am I weird for not liking it?

Any way have you guys got this month or have you liked/disliked these products.
Let a girl know

Top Ten Favourite books of all time!

Posted by chelsie rout at 23:06 0 comments
Watch out guys it’s a long post all about one of my many obsessions!

I have always enjoyed book recommendations and finding something new to read, so I have compiled a short list of books that should be on your reading list!
(Disclaimer: I am not including whole series, only singular books and I can only have an author once)

1.       The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
This book is one of the most wonderful stories I have ever read. Set in 1939, Nazi Germany, Death follows a young girl by the name Liesel. He watches her throughout her life as she slowly falls in love with the written word. It is wonderfully enriching and is a story that you will remember forever!

2.       The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon
I first read this book in the 11 grade and I have read it 3 times over since. It is about a very smart, young boy Christopher who has autism. He knows all the capitals of the world and every prime number up to 7,057, but is baffled by human emotion (and the colour yellow!). When his neighbour’s dog is found dead he goes on a quest to figure out who murdered him. This book is one of the most heart wrenching books I have read and helps you look at the world slightly differently!

3.       Is everyone hanging out without me? (and other concerns) By Mindy Kaling
Now let me start by saying Mindy Kaling is one of my favourite people ever! So this book was an obvious choice. I first listened to this book on audio as she reads it and I find it more personal and enriching. But I now own the book and have read/listened it 4 times now. Mindy has a sense of humour that I click with, she tells stories about her childhood growing up, her hit play, giving her friend a black eye on stage and her life in Hollywood.  She is so god damn funny and I will continue to love her until the very end!

4.       Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
Picking one hunger games book was a challenge but the last book in the series sticks out in my mind the most! To be fair it does sway off to the side a little bit but I could have not predicted the plot twists or the ending of this book and I really enjoy not knowing. It also is a tear jerker and those books get me every time! I won’t spoil anything for you!

5.       Can you keep a secret? By Sophie Kinsella
This book was the first romantic novel I read, I think I read it first when I was 13/14 (which is probably far too young!). It is one of the funniest books I have laid eyes on! It is about a bland woman in England who after a tragic interview spills all her tiny little secrets to a stranger on a plane. Well not a stranger for long. From her funny thoughts, unsupported family and disastrous love life, this is a book that will make your sides hurt from laughing so hard!

6.       The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton
This book is my favourite read of 2014, the writing style is flawlessly enchanting and has a hint of magic within realism. You feel as if the book has opened up and you have stepped inside this world. A girl called Ava Lavender in Seattle is born with wings from a bird and you re-live her families past experiences with love and watch as it all falls hopelessly, teaching Ava that love is foolish and not to be trusted.

7.       Miss Peregrine’s home for Peculiar children by Ransom Riggs
After seeing this book pop up again and again. I decided to pick it up after seeing mixed reviews of it all over the place. At first glance it seems creepy and mysterious which it is but with a twist. I have no way to describe this book other than it was intriguing and spreads curiosity like the plague, using black and white photographs of peculiar children it is another magical realism book that uses it wonderfully.

8.       The Perks of being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
Holy Hell is book is fantastic. That’s all I have to say, other than read it and experience it and watch as it slowly changes your perspective on life.

9.       The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne
World War two from a 9 year olds perspective. He finds a friend across a fence in striped pyjamas. It is a fantastic concept is well done, the style of writing feels like a nine year old wrote it shows how children interpret the world around them.

10.   Harry Potter and the order of the phoenix by J.k. Rowling
I had to include the books that shaped my childhood. I was a close call between Book 4 (Goblet of fire) and book 5, I chose not to go down the most common path of that last book even though it is an amazing end to an amazing series. I Love book 5 so much, this is when the story gets darker and dangerous, Voldemort’s back, nobody believes harry, setting up Dumbledore’s army and then the battle at the end. This book starts the darker more serious side of Harry potter and I love it!

 Wow that’s a long list
Honourable mentions: The Fault in our Stars, Maximum ride, Divergent, Fangirl, Bossypants and The Hobbit plus many more!

Now that I have showered you with recommendations please give me some! I am running out of books to buy and not read for 3 months! Or am I completely wrong and you think differently, let me know!

Until next time
